NUST Executive MBA Students Undertake International Study Tour to Sri Lanka

A delegation comprising twenty four (24) Executive MBA students of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, visited Sri Lanka on 31 August 2026 as part of an international study tour aimed at providing students with first-hand exposure to Sri Lanka’s business, higher education and investment landscape.

The visit was facilitated by the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad following official engagement with NUST. The High Commission coordinated arrangements for the delegation to engage with leading institutions representing Sri Lanka’s business and higher education sectors.

During their visit to Colombo, the delegation held meetings with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, the University Grants Commission (UGC), and the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM). These engagements provided the students with valuable opportunities to exchange views and gain insights into Sri Lanka’s business environment, higher education system, and emerging opportunities for bilateral cooperation and institutional collaboration.

At the meeting with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, discussions covered a range of areas including business, trade, investment, entrepreneurship, and opportunities to further strengthen linkages between the business communities of Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The interaction also provided an opportunity for the students to learn about Sri Lanka’s private sector and its evolving business and investment environment.

At the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), discussions focused on management education, executive development, academic collaboration, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise between institutions in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. PIM hosted the delegation for a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast, providing an opportunity for further interaction in a warm and informal setting. The Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka also attended the meeting and participated in the discussions.

The study tour provided the NUST students with a valuable opportunity to gain practical insights into Sri Lanka’s economic, business and educational landscape, while also contributing to greater people-to-people and institutional linkages between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad remains committed to facilitating academic, business and institutional exchanges between the two countries and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of education, trade, investment and professional development.
