Pakistani Gems and Stone Delegation Visits Ratnapura to Participate in Gem City Ratnapura Gems Show 2026

A delegation comprising eight prominent businessmen from the Gems and Stone Association of Pakistan visited Ratnapura, Sri Lanka, on 31 August 2026 to participate in the Gem City Ratnapura Gems Show 2026, organized by the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) of Sri Lanka from 31 August to 2 September 2026.

The visit provided an important opportunity for Pakistani gems and jewellery industry representatives to engage with Sri Lankan and international stakeholders and explore avenues for strengthening bilateral trade and business cooperation in the gems and jewellery sector.

The exhibition brought together leading local and international exhibitors, foreign buyers, industry professionals, exporters, manufacturers and other stakeholders from the global gem and jewellery industry. It served as a valuable platform for participants to establish business contacts, explore new international trade opportunities, exchange industry knowledge and identify potential areas of collaboration.

The Pakistani delegation had the opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to Sri Lanka’s renowned gem industry and to explore business prospects in Ratnapura, widely recognized for its rich gem-mining heritage. The participation also contributed to enhancing people-to-people and business-to-business contacts between the gems and jewellery communities of Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The visit was facilitated by the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad, which held a series of meetings and consultations with representatives of the Gems and Stone Association of Pakistan to encourage and facilitate their participation in the exhibition. These engagements played a crucial role in bringing the Pakistani delegation to Ratnapura and fostering greater interaction between the gem and jewellery industries of the two countries.

The participation of the Pakistani delegation in the Gem City Ratnapura Gems Show 2026 reflects the shared interest of Pakistan and Sri Lanka in expanding commercial ties and creating new opportunities for cooperation in the gems and jewellery sector. The visit is expected to contribute to further business-to-business engagement and strengthen bilateral trade relations in this specialized industry.
